Infrastructure - Utilities

A premiere benefit to doing business in Georgetown is the city-owned Georgetown Utility Systems (GUS). GUS serves as the primary provider of electric utilities, water, and wastewater to Georgetown residents and businesses. Our utility network is constantly expanding to anticipate the needs of business and residential growth in the area. This asset is one of the community's biggest economic development tools providing utility infrastructure and rate assistance to eligible companies.

GUS has the capacity to generate 130 mw of power, with an average daily use of 42 mw in the winter and 70 mw in the summer. The treated water capacity is about 18 million gallons per day (MGD), with an average daily use of 7.68 MGD. The city's wastewater capacity is presently 5.34 MGD, with an average daily use of 2.613 MGD. Residents and businesses in the community enjoy the low costs and reliability of services provided by GUS.
